First Girls Gymnastics Meet Feb 2011 in Arlington, TX
On Feb 19th the girls gymnastics meet season started for the Texas American Gymnastics Association (AGA) in Arlington at the Aerials Gymnastics Center. Of course Christena and Sara where there to represent the Gymnastics Training Center or Palestine, TX run by Helen Grissoffi. She is also their coach with their mom, Dixie, as an assistant coach.
The girls had previously been ranked in the AGA in January at the gym in Palestine and so were ready to go. But it seems that none of the other gyms took advantage of having their Junior Prep girls ranked before the first meet. So all the girls on Sara's team were competing among themselves while all the girls on the other teams were just being ranked. It made for an awkward medals ceremony at the end of the Junior Prep session when the only girls receiving ribbons where from GTC.
Sara did pretty good for her first time actually competing as a ranked gymnist at AGA Junior Prep Level 1. Her scores are shown on the video and they are quite low for the most part because of errors she made and I think because of some errors made by the coach. I think Sara had fun and nobody was disappointed by anything. You live and you learn and (hopefully) you do better next go 'round.
Christen did great also but I think she was nervous because it was the first meet of the season. She made some mistakes and didn't score as high as she could have but you can definitely see the potential that she has of really performing well at her level which is Junior Level 10 in the AGA.
